Greene County Democrats will hold an off year caucus Thursday, March 9, at 7 pm at the Jefferson municipal building, 220 N. Chestnut St. Registration will begin at 6:30.
All registered Democrats, persons with other party affiliations, and Independents are invited.
Democratic county chair Dale Hanaman said nominating persons for vacancies on the central committee is at the top of the agenda, followed by the discussion of the Democratic check-off on income tax returns.
The central committee will discuss goals for the coming year to include increasing the use of online and social media tools; creating a list of ‘first responders’ to contact legislators as issues arise; brainstorming possible events for 2017; pledging to call everyone who attended a 2016 Democratic caucus to invite their involvement in Democratic events and the 2018 caucus; and develop liaisons with various groups in the county.
Hanaman said there will also be an announcement of a candidate for county supervisor for District 3. That seat is up for election in 2018. Incumbent Republican Tom Contner has said he will not seek re-election.
